See the full picture of your F&I performance

Per-unit gross is where most dealers start when measuring the F&I office, and it is an important number. On its own, though, it can be shaped by factors outside the finance manager's control, such as inventory mix, seasonality and how customers choose to pay.

That is why Apex Writers looks deeper. Through month-end performance reviews and deal audits, we measure product penetration, menu presentation and the customer experience, so you can recognize the people who are truly performing and support those who are still growing.

Clear measurement leads to better decisions. We help you make sure your goals and incentives reward the habits that build lasting success, giving your F&I team the confidence and consistency to deliver strong results month after month.

What We Offer

What income development looks at

Four things decide what the office produces, and they have to agree with each other.

01

The pay plan

What it rewards, set against what you intend it to reward, so the two line up.

02

The measurement

Which numbers tell you something, and which move on their own. Penetration by product, by vertical, and by salesperson says far more than a single gross figure.

03

The hire

What to look for in an F&I hire, including the qualities that predict success beyond the resume.

04

The bench

A second person ready to write a deal, so the office keeps running smoothly through vacations, promotions and staff changes.

Our Process

How we work with your store

Month-end performance reviews and deal audits keep the picture current, so you always know what is working and where the next opportunity is.

  1. Pay plans reviewed against what they produce
  2. Reporting that separates performance from the market
  3. Hiring criteria built for your store and your mix
  4. Connected to the training, so the plan and the process support each other
  5. Reviewed against your own history and your own market

Common Questions

Questions dealers ask

Our finance manager is performing. Is there anything here for us?

Usually, yes. A strong performer is a good time to review the plan and build the bench, because you are building on something that already works. It also helps you keep that person.

Do you rewrite our pay plans?

We review them and show you what they are rewarding. Changing a pay plan is the owner's decision and it affects the people on it, so it is something to do carefully and on your own terms.

What should we measure alongside per unit gross?

Per unit gross stays. We add product penetration broken out by vertical and by salesperson, and how those move against your mix, which will tell you within a month whether a change worked. The exact set depends on what your system can report.

We are a small store with one F&I person. Does this still apply?

Yes. With one person at the desk, a clear pay plan and a second person trained to write deals keep the office steady whatever the week brings.
